Pigeon Guillimot on Matia Island Habitat
Pigeon Guillimot on Matia Island Habitat
This 18’ x 24” mixed media original art piece on heavy watercolor paper comes unframed.
These are the young-of-the-year pigeon guillemots and nests on a steep cove wall nestled in the tranquil waters of Matia Island Marine Park. It was a joy to spend two days and nights in this quiet cove on a sailboat stern-tied to shore. We had plenty of time to observe the feeding, preening, playing antics of these personable birds. I made a short video from reference photos and videos taken on location, which helped me create the narrative here.
As always, at least 10% of sales (more when I can manage it) will be donated to various local nonprofits working to restore our Salish Sea and the Cascadia ecosystem.
