My Nature Studies Series celebrate characteristics of the natural world of the Salish Sea. This is a depiction of two of my favorite summer visitors. I once lived in a cabin perched on a cliff overlooking the sea. The kitchen window faced the mountainside, where there was a thick patch of these fireweed flowers in July and August. I’d linger at the sink under the window just to watch the hummingbirds zipping among the flowers, enjoying the nectar.

As always, at least 10% of sales (more when I can manage it) are donated to indigenous organizations and local nonprofits working to restore our Salish Sea.
