yesterday i taught my first drawing workshop of the season, and my first with finished copies of the drawing nature book!
unfortunately the weather was uncooperatively cold, so most of the class was held indoors at a nearby coffee shop. we did venture out for about an hour, only to run back to the coffee shop once it started to rain.
it figures that today has been sunny and gorgeous!
there’s still three more workshops this summer, and all still have spaces left!

late this past week i paid another visit to my friends with the cutest bunny ever. got me some quality bunny time and took more photos to enjoy while i got over the last little bit of flu, work and organizing.
ridiculously cute, right?! this bunny, and these photos of her, make me so happy!

i’m excited to see my chickens on a plywerk panel! and my bear! and two others!
yes, i’ve been m.i.a. on the blog this week whilst recovering from the flu, tying up a bunch of loose ends on various projects, and throughly cleaning and organizing the studio – my favorite thing to do before moving onto a new phase of work. it helped that i had another photoshoot scheduled for yesterday afternoon. photoshoots always encourage hyper-organization around here!

oh boy, well now the momentum has been lost and the little details forgotten! but i’ve updated a few more photos from the stationery show on flickr. above is a photo of sarajo frieden and i. we’ve been emailing for years and finally got to meet in person! there were many many others i met in person for the first time, but unfortunately it was too busy to take photos of absolutely everyone!
i’ll keep the icff photos and commentary to myself, i can no longer read/remember my hastily scrawled notes from the hour i ran through that show!

yes. i’m waaay behind on what i’d hoped to be daily reports from the stationery show for all of you! nyc became too overwhelming for me to properly deal with, then i got sick, and now i am home recuperating.
more [late] reports will be forthcoming either tomorrow or monday. the photos are all formatted, i just need[ed] time to process everything i saw/felt/heard.
as sick as i was in my last few hours in nyc, i managed to get to soho to see for myself a bit of what’s going on design-wise. at the moma store, i made a note of a new book by one of my perennial favorite designers, hella jongerius, to buy once i was home. it seemed like the perfect plane read, but i just couldn’t justify more heft.
then i ran into this video on ink+wit’s blog this morning and was completely blown away…
oh hella. you’re amazing, and such a continuing inspiration for me!

end of day #1! i was too too tired to post yesterday after finishing set up… but you can get a taste of what i went through on flickr!
again, more on flickr! i’m gonna fall over and sleep now. more tomorrow!
yesterday was a blur of a day running around manhattan gathering all my booth supplies, and trying to ignore the fact that i had a sleep-deprivation and alcohol-induced hangover headache. i only had two glasses of wine the night before, but coupled with exhaustion and traveling i guess that was a dumb idea! thankfully the weather was overcast and cool, just like what i’m used to at home in portland.
i made good progress on my booth, but there’s still a lot to do today. and i want to have time to run around icff a bit and go to a few icff-related events tonight!
more tomorrow!

just completed all the sample sewing for the stationery show in nyc next week. love them!!! but i need to go ice my hand now!
i know it took a while for me and chronicle to get our act together and give you what you’ve been begging for from me, more journals, but here you go!…
debuting mid-june: the succulents eco-journal! i already have my advance copies of these and i LOVE LOVE LOVE it. so much so that i’ve brought a few copies to the past few in-town sales events – and other people love it too. it even outsold the perennial favorite poppies journal!

debuting mid-july: the butterflies eco-journal! two finished copies arrived in the mail the other day and i squealed in excitement! oh! i love this one too!

in the same package were two finished copies of the new succulents eco-notecards keepsake box set, also debuting mid-july! yeah! so fun to see the finished items after months of designing and prototypes!

are you kidding me with this cuteness right now, right? oh! so cute she makes my teeth hurt! wait, wait, lemme back up…
yesterday was amazing and fun at crafty wonderland! although i admittedly almost lost it when, at 5pm, i thought we were done only to find out we had another hour! thanks to inger for the ice tea to get me through the last hour and packing up!
and thanks to all of you who came out to say hello! it was awesome to meet so many of you!
i was rocking some of the pnw-appropriate attire i’ll be sporting in nyc next next week. namely, a morel mushroom print dress by modaspia made especially for doe boutique [close up of the dress print above].
after the show, i celebrated the 5th birthday of one of my favorite little girls. i was too late for the pony rides, the presents, the cake… but i got there in time for a delicious dinner, and got to meet the newest addition to the family: honey bunny [above]. well, the girls named her “angel puffball” or something like that, but to me she’s “honey bun”. the sweetest thing ever, she’s some kind of dwarf dutch rabbit. well, of course she’s dutch. duh, cuz she’s RAD!
sorry, lucy. you’re rad too.
