i have no additional information about these string gardens, but aren’t they amazing?

found them on poppytalk.

i’m not fancy enough to wear these, but they’re gorgeous [via notcot]!

according to eaarth: making a life on a tough new planet we’ve fundamentally compromised the natural systems on the planet, and there’s no turning back. this book is, at first, humbling and depressing. and it was the perfect read this week with all the weird weather here in portland. one hour it’s warm and sunny, the next it’s dark cold and hailing! according to eaarth, this kind of weather is here to stay.

stick with this book though and the author outlines different ways in which we can survive the new world we’ve created. most of it centering around local economies and communities. yeah!

i’ve just been tapped to teach introductory and intermediate surface design classes at the excellent modern domestic shop and sewing class facility. besides sewing classes and my classes there’s also screen printing classes! the best part? most are only $60, and only a one- or two-day commitment!

yesterday was another gorgeous and fun day sitting in my tent with my dog, visiting with everyone at the alberta art hop. this was my forth or fifth consecutive event weekend and finally this time it occurred to me to take photos.

above is the tent set up. below is another uncommon phone cover shown to me by a visitor to the tent!

unfortunately all the photos of lucy napping at my feet turned out too blurry!

last weekend lucy and i had a booth at the st. john’s parade and street fair. it was a gorgeous day, we had a front-row seat to the parade and lucy had a blast meeting new dogs and people! it was great to see her so happy and active after many long months of sad and weird behavior. i now have a good feeling about our last summer together…

this upcoming weekend we’ll be at it again, this time at the alberta art hop street fair! look for us on the 28th block of alberta on saturday 11 – 5 pm! i’m in the studio all week making lots of special event-only items!

i’m working on many other projects right now too, none of which i can talk about just yet, and there’s a few more weeks to go in the current quarter at psu!

i made one-of-a-kind stuffed anima seastars for this show opening tomorrow night in new york! the show showcases sea-related works in embroidery, plush, and other materials, including new pieces by hine mizushima and jenny hart.

if you’re in nyc, stop by!
